A Robust Pre-Piling Template for Heerema Marine Contractors

Heerema Marine Contractors planned to install 84 piles and 21 jackets for the Changhua Offshore Wind Farm. To perform the pre-piling of the jackets, TWD engineers proudly assisted Heerema with the design of the pre-piling template.

In line with Heerema’s procurement and fabrication schedule, our engineers successfully supported Heerema in the joint effort of designing a fit-for-purpose piling template that met the project’s all functional requirements. Building on our in-house expertise and closely cooperating with Heerema, we delivered an efficient subsea installation tool. The template has been deployed by Heerema’s heavy lift vessel Aegir for the swift and accurate installation of the project’s 84 pin-piles.

Project highlights

  • Seabed-based template
  • An incorporated template leveling mechanism
  • Mud mats to cope with soft soil conditions
  • Robust design

As the global wind energy sector expands, a shortage of vessels for handling bigger monopiles is foreseen. Simply scaling up isn’t enough.
