Monopile seafastening on Wind Osprey
To install the Gemini offshore wind farm (OWF), Van Oord had to transport the monopiles using their Wind Osprey vessel. To make sure the monopiles safely reached their destination, TWD designed a seafastening structure that allowed Van Oord to transport 3 monopiles on the vessel. Our seafastening design was equipped with rotating saddles that made a swift change of the seafastening set up possible for 3 different monopile diameters.
We were happy to deliver a smart seafastening design that contributed to the successful installation of the Gemini OWF (600 MW). The farm brings green energy to around 800.000 households a year.
Project highlights
As the global wind energy sector expands, a shortage of vessels for handling bigger monopiles is foreseen. Simply scaling up isn’t enough.
