DEME Offshore is contracted to install the foundations of the Saint-Nazaire Offshore Wind Farm in France. A part of the project scope is to install an offshore substation [OSS] to aid in transferring the electricity generated from the wind turbines to shore. To assist DEME with the OSS foundation installation, TWD designed a simple and effective drilling template.
The drilling template is created to install the pin-pile foundations of the offshore substation within tolerance. We designed the template with leveling cylinders to make sure it can accommodate the uneven seabed. This allows for a safe and effective foundation installation. The drilling template was used for 3 OSS foundation locations in total.
TWD is proud to have worked with DEME to install Saint-Nazaire (496 MW). The farm will serve green energy to 400.000 homes.
As the global wind energy sector expands, a shortage of vessels for handling bigger monopiles is foreseen. Simply scaling up isn’t enough.
