Being well-positioned in the maritime industry, TWD has been selected for the retrofit engineering of new Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) and freshwater cooling systems on board a heavy lift supply and cargo vessel. With the new IMO 2020 regulations approaching, shipping companies and marine contractors seek solutions to outfit their vessels with cleaner exhaust gas and ballast water systems.

This spring TWD is working on the retrofit engineering of scrubber systems on 12 bulk carriers, this includes vessel inspections, all required engineering, all class, and yard interfaces. Our short turn-around times make it possible for the vessel owner to get the docking and retrofit done in 2019.

With our knowledge of the design of offshore and maritime equipment, we know precisely what is required and how these retrofit projects can be executed efficiently. In the past TWD worked on multiple conversion and retrofit projects: from a rock placement vessel to cablelay or from a standard PSV to a fully equipped W2W vessel.

Together with our clients and ship owners, we think along to reduce dry dock and yard times and investigate possibilities for prefab and standardization throughout their fleet.

During docking, TWD can be of assistance for other works which are executed simultaneously, like smart visualization of thickness measurements, updates of stability booklets and inclination tests, and the design of other vessel-specific equipment.
