Structural Analysis of Storage Tanks in Kavala, North Greece

To help S.P.C. Steel Pipe Construction install storage tanks for phosphoric acid at a fertilizer production plant in Kavala, Northern Greece, TWD conducted the structural verification of the tank design for the specific location.

We built up a combined 2D-1D FEA model for the shell elements of the tank and the members of the agitator support frame within a very short lead time. The analysis was performed according to the Eurocode specifications for tanks, combining all critical load cases. This way, we ensured the structural integrity of the storage tanks.
