Dalsfjord Bridge – Norway

Rail, highway, and bridge constructions – HSM Steel Structures

The Dalsfjord Bridge was constructed to enhance accessibility to the Askvoll region. Spanning a total length of 525 meters, the bridge’s roadway is elevated 35 meters above the fjord. TWD collaborated with HSM Steel Structures to determine the rigging arrangement for the bridge’s 11 segments, each requiring individual lifting and connection to the main cable.

In addition, TWD designed the sliced nut and cable sleeve, critical components for the installation and tensioning of the bridge’s suspension cables.

Project highlights

  • Cable stay installation and pretensioning system without interfering with permanent connections
  • Unique rigging arrangement per section over and under bridge suspension cables
  • The lifting arrangement is designed to maximize the usage of the existing rigging inventory
