Fremantle Traffic Bridge – Swan River Crossings, AU

Innovative Engineering Solutions for Constrained Worksites

TWD contributed to the Swan River Crossings – Fremantle Traffic Bridge Project in Australia by designing temporary steel platforms to support construction activities in a constrained environment. The project faced significant logistical challenges due to its proximity to a rail bridge and residential areas, requiring innovative solutions and close stakeholder coordination.

To facilitate safe and efficient construction, the platforms were designed to:

  • Support cranes and heavy-load logistics across multiple work zones
  • Enable material transport, including large precast concrete bridge elements
  • Meet Australian safety standards while accommodating various load cases

Built using a hand-over-hand construction method, the platforms were optimized for structural integrity and functionality under updated loading conditions. Additionally, we provided a detailed weight and cost estimate to support project planning.

This project exemplifies our commitment to delivering practical, forward-thinking engineering solutions in complex environments.

Project highlights:

  • Modular steel platforms for efficient installation and disassembly
  • Modular piling gate design with boltable beams to be able to be re-used for future projects
  • Hydraulic-actuated double gates
