Drilling Template – Saint-Brieuc Offshore Wind Farm

Template with a jack-up system leading to a safer foundation installation

To help Van Oord install jacket foundations on the Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm (496 MW), TWD developed a 3-legged drilling template. The template will be utilized to install the pin-piles of 62 wind turbines. In addition, our mechanical engineers designed a separate offshore substation (OSS) template, in combination with the drilling template, which allowed for an offshore substation installation.

The drilling template is one of our most proud designs, as we integrated an innovative jack-up system in the design. Since the template can lift itself, this makes sure that the pin-piles remain intact and incur no damage during the installation. To achieve this outstanding outcome, our mechanical engineers utilized the expertise of TWD’s marine engineers in dynamic and workability analyses.

TWD’s innovative thinking and multidisciplinary approach resulted in a template that makes foundation installation faster, safer, and simpler.
