Cable transfer application to speed up cable management
Handling subsea cables requires precision, planning, and accurate calculations to ensure safe and efficient operations. To reduce risk and improve reliability, WIND partnered with TWD to develop a custom web-based engineering tool that automates the cable transfer analysis process.
This application helps engineers and sales assess cable track configurations, calculate engine cable capacity, and generate detailed engineering reports in minutes. By automating complex engineering processes, the tool minimises lead time, eliminates costly rework, and ensures the correct equipment is used for each cable configuration.
To support the fast-paced nature of offshore operations, TWD designed a modular and scalable solution. The tool streamlines workflows through automated calculations, real-time feasibility checks, and structured reporting. Its flexible setup allows for rapid configuration changes, while a clear input-output structure enhances usability and transparency.
Project highlights
By combining engineering expertise with automation, this tool helps clients optimise subsea cable handling, planning, and execution. The result is a smarter, more efficient workflow that supports faster decision-making and improved operational reliability.
“From day one, the app has proven beneficial in quickly calculating engine capacity, which has helped us to be better prepared for future cable loadouts.” — Kelsey Huijsing, WIND Cable Services
