TWD hosted a hackathon focused on our collaboration with Reefy, an innovative start-up dedicated to protecting coastal cities and marine ecosystems through nature-based solutions. Our engineers came together to develop practical methods for making Reefy’s modular reef block installation more efficient and cost-effective, helping turn sustainable concepts into reality. The event highlighted the strength of combining TWD’s method engineering with Reefy’s data-driven approach to ecosystem conservation.
Reefy is on a mission to revolutionize construction and ecosystem conservation by showing the value of nature with a holistic data approach. Through smart integration of remote sensing and in situ sensors with self-learning artificial intelligence, its approach enables highly transparent monitoring and evaluation of nature-based projects.
Our support included assessing the structural integrity of the modular reef blocks under different scenarios to provide a better understanding of the expected lifespan and failure modes of these blocks. We also explored the possibility of using lower-strength concrete to reduce costs and emissions.
This project aligns with our mission to make construction easier while supporting sustainable solutions.
