Final T-Roff Beam Lift Marks Key Milestone for Fremantle Traffic Bridge Project

A major milestone has been reached on Main Roads’ Swan River Crossings – Fremantle Traffic Bridge Project in Australia with the successful lifting of the final T-Roff beam.

Behind the scenes of these complex bridge operations, TWD designed the temporary jetties that supported critical construction activities throughout the project. The structures enabled crane operations and material transport across the site, including the handling of large precast concrete bridge elements. They also accommodated the piling template used for the installation of the new bridge foundations.

As construction progressed and site conditions continuously evolved, maintaining oversight of the temporary jetty’s integrity became increasingly important. To support this, TWD developed a practical verification tool that allowed the client to quickly assess whether new lifts and changing configurations remained within the intended design limits.

With built-in sanity checks and clear operational thresholds, the tool provided confidence during day-to-day operations while indicating when additional engineering verification from TWD was required. This helped the project team make informed decisions efficiently in a fast-moving construction environment.
